Find out what all poking someone on facebook actually does
We’ve all seen it. That small little hand in the corner of facebook. By your friends. In friendship requests. All over our beloved facebook. Very few people actually know what this means. I am here to shed some light.
Like in real life, poking someone is a way to get their attention without actually having to say something. It allows you to say hey and that you are think about them. Instead of sending a pointless message saying “hey,” you can poke the user. It does the same thing, but without being lame.
Well, first it notifies the facebook user that they have been poked and you know that you have poked them. Also, it shows up on both you and the other users walls. More importantly though, it allows you to see their limited profile for an entire week. This is something that most people don’t realize. So if you’re thinking about sending somebody a friend request but want to make sure that it’s actually the right person, you can poke them and see their pictures and information. The two drawbacks with poking somebody is that, like messaging them, the users knows that you are the one that poked them and that you can see their profile for a whole week. And more importantly they get a week of being able to see your private profile.
Hope this explained everything for you. Make sure you share this link with anyone who doesn’t know what poking does on facebook.
